Joint Stabilization

Imperfections in concrete slabs due to shrinkage, curling and other factors lead to expansions joints, sawcuts and cracks becoming uneven when loads are introduced. This unevenness results in damage to forklift wheels, electronics and even discomfort or injury to employees subjected to such jarring over time.

Bridge/Deck Joints
Rudd-Palmer was one of the first companies to install the XJS (Expansion Joint System) by Silicone Specialties, Inc. ("SSI"). Beginning in the early 1990's, Rudd-Palmer worked with SSI to install a sample XJS joint for Departments of Transportation across the country. The joint is durable in all climates, has one of the lowest life cycle costs of any other joint system, and is quickly and economically repairable. We have installed or reparied the XJS on bridges, parking garage decks, and on the top of a dam, as shown in the photos below.
